Love.

Oh, Dr. Seuss! This quote always makes me happy. I imagine this is how it will happen with the right person. It is, in my mind, one of the best, most accurate descriptions of love.

The One With Something To Say...

This story made me smile, and get kind of teary eyed. I must be more  emotional than usual today! I'm happy some people choose to stand up and stick up for others.

Happy Friday!

It's Friday. And it's a better Friday than most Fridays because it's a SNOW DAY FRIDAY! So let's link up with my friend Amanda to share what made us happy this week.

- I ordered Wendy's for supper one day this week. I was so hungry and no matter what I ate, I just couldn't feel full. This made it all better!

I should get paid for this kind of advertisement...

- I received a textbook I had ordered used online. When I got the box, there was a little message written on it. It made me happy. Love the little things.

Isn't that just too cute?

- Spent Wednesday at the Science Center in town. We had so much fun checking out the exhibits and the staff was super friendly. Here is my attempt at taking a picture of our shadows on their "Shadow Wall".

I'm a pretty talented photographer, I know.

- Wednesday was also my mommy's birthday! Yay! I got to Skype with her and both my aunts at once. It was lots of fun. Like a mini family reunion.

- After my interview Wednesday, I made a delicious big breakfast. It was the best!

All the food groups! Go me!

- Thursday night, I did a presentation with my friends for one of our classes. That marked our being done two thirds of that class. Not even halfway through this term and we're finishing stuff up. To celebrate, we went for warm, cozy, happy beverages at Second Cup. I love these girls! Don't know how I'd get through it without them.

<3

- Woke up this morning and felt kind of lazy. Started doing homework and found out my gym class was cancelled. Did a mini victory dance.

- My friend found this video. Could there really be a sequel? It's almost too good to be true!

- After the yucky weather with rain and everything melting, it is snowing a lot today. I am so excited to have snow again. The world looks so pretty! It's like it is dressing up just for me.

Ain't it purdy?

I hope all of you enjoyed your week as much as I did. And I love hearing about you and what makes you happy. In fact, your messages make me happy! So feel free to comment!

Video Kick!

So apparently I am on a YouTube video kick. Yesterday I watched a bunch of shorts and figured I would share some of them with you. Here goes!

- I discovered that many of them are eerie or kind of creepy. One example was The Invention of Love. Another example is this one:

Some of them are cuter or funnier. One good example was Out to Play (With a Magic Box). Another is this Pixar one which I have always found funny:

There is a plethora of short films out there: there is every subject and style you could imagine. Let me know if you find anything good!

Book Videos! Sounds Lame But They're Cool. I Swear!

Okay! So my aunt posted this video on my wall and somehow I didn't see it until now. But I checked it out and it was very cool.

See? Pretty cool, right? So then I decided to check out the other video. And they are also all pretty cool. I don't know what this guy does for work that he has time to do all of this but it's pretty crazy!

Some of his videos are just random and funny, like this one:

And other ones are just incredibly cool and I can't believe he spent that much time on them. Like this one:

He has a few more too. The anniversary one for his wife was pretty sweet. Check them out at his YouTube account here!

I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Wise Bathroom Graffiti...

I needed a little break today, so I took a minute from a group meeting to go use the washroom. Then I saw a graffiti on the bathroom stall and cursed myself for leaving my phone on the table. Just writing it out is definitely less cool than a picture, but here is what it said:

Words to live by.

Right?!

Just a few weeks ago, I had a chat with a friend about how un-self-reliable (Is that a word? Well, if it wasn't, it is now!) our country is becoming. This is a topic that comes up every now and then and it is interesting to see how self-reliant people think we actually are, especially when they think of food.

Today, I went online and saw this video on a friend's wall on Facebook. It was definitely eye-opening to me so I thought I would share it with you. Learn lots!

Things on the Internet.

Okay! So I have found a few things that I absolutely love on the internet lately. And sometimes I make a full post around it, but other things are so random but don't really fit into a blog post. Yet they are too wonderful or fun not to share. So here are a few of them.

- Shakira singing Je l'aime à mourir by Francis Cabrel in Paris. The lyrics are fantastic. I get chills when I think about them.

- Discovered Pinterest. Haven't been on too much yet but it is fun already. Definitely can see myself using it lots in the near future, once I have a bit more time to spare. If anyone wants an invite to check it out, let me know!

- Found a picture of this amazing Tree House on Pinterest. I want one. Please?

- You may also have previous seen this on another blog entry but I am posting it again!

I love The Big Bang Theory!

Okay... So it was only three things plus the one I've already shared. Well, there were only three that I could find again. Not a whole bunch. But these kinds of posts will probably start happening more frequently from now on. Anyways... It is Monday. So here's to another week! Make the best of it!

Dwight Schrute Know Best.

Found this on Pinterest.

And there was a link to a whole bunch more! Too funny! Gotta love The Office!

My Calendar Teaches Me So Many Interesting Things!

Happy Friday!

Yay! It's Friday again. This week has gone by so fast. Time to link up with Amanda to share the highlights of the week.

 - It was my first week back at school and it went well. I forged a Picasso (not really but kind of) and found out that I teacher I was expecting to be great, really was great after all!

Beauty and the Beast in 3D came out. I haven't seen it yet but can't wait to!

- I got to spend time with my roomies again! Lots of talking and catching up. It was fantastic!

- My friend came to meet me at the mall and we had Starbucks and ran errands. I missed her so much!

- I found this (which is now my background picture) online. It makes me very happy!

Love Big Bang Theory!

I've come to the conclusion that I need to get into the habit of taking lots of pictures again! I had nothing to post to this Friday post! Sad!

What brightened up your week? I love hearing from readers so share away!

Too True!

Found this in a reading at school.

Also something relating to teaching that I found online.

Listen Up World!

We need more people like her...

Here she is more recently...

Fame! Or Not...

Alright! So due to my Education Degree, I am now trying my hand at being an artist (as previously mentioned). Well, they say you only ever get famous after you've died. And I think even that might be stretch for me. If that plan was to ever work, I'd have to die in some crazy-freak way that made me famous and then my art might get noticed.

But enough about dying, because that is not what this post is about. This post is about me giving a shot at being Picasso! That's right, folks! I attempted to forge a Picasso sketch. Needless to say, it probably isn't up to "Black Market" par. But it is still way better than I expected. So I decided I would share it with you.

Here are the pictures of my progress. I used plain printer paper and my very fancy penguin pencil, given to me by my cooperative teacher during my internship. Like a pro!

Tools of choice!

Enjoy!

P.S. Feel free to giggle a bit. I won't be upset. Promise!

This is after the first twenty minutes.

This is about forty minutes in...

Final product. His head is a little small but oh well! C'est la vie!

That is all I have for today. I should probably keep working on my school work. Blerg! Have a good night!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Just for a little perspective, take a look at my last "stunning" piece of artwork.

This is one of the first things I made during my BEd - a whale name
tag. I drew it, inspired by the first picture on this post and cut it out.
All on my own! It was a very proud moment: I had made art.
I call it "The Turning Point" in my career.

Yay for Friends!

So starting school again is kind of bitter sweet. The term looks as though it will be jam-packed full of work (and learning) again. My science class appears to be the art class I have always dreaded and my art class seems like something I might actually enjoy. My world has been turned upside-down!

However, there is a great thing about coming back to school - friends! And believe me, they make facing this term much more bearable. Since coming back to town, I have gone to a movie, I have gone to coffee, and just hung out with friends. It is fantastic!

But I think most importantly, there are my friends in class. These girls are the best! We get to complain together but then we also laugh and joke around, keeping this program more or less light-hearted and fun!

So here is to friends! May you always be surrounded by people you love, who make you laugh and smile, and turn your world into a better place.

Here is my BEd-ers group making our "serious teacher face"
before the program's Halloween celebration.

Ah Memories...

I watched this a few times growing up and for some reason, this is always the scene I remember. I don't know why... From Astérix et Cléopatre, this is Le bain de Cléopatre:

Oh, and I guess this one as well. I used to sing this with dad...

Anyway, just thought I would share!

Yay!!!

Just saw this on Facebook. Thought I would share. Only one week to go!

Happy Friday!

Yay! It's Friday. My last Friday as a relatively free person. It's back to the cave (a.k.a. my room) once classes start on Monday. But let's link up to Amanda again and talk about the wonderful things we have encountered this past week.

- Playing guitar. My daddy gave me one of his guitars for Christmas so I learned two new songs. It was so much fun to get back into the musical routine. And the guitar means so much more than a new one because it's one that my dad enjoyed for years.

Ain't it purdy? It sounds awesome too! You should see
the back of it too. The pattern on the wood on the back is
pretty much perfectly symmetrical.

- I got to sit at the laundromat with my aunt for a couple hours and just talk and enjoy time together. I'm going to miss her now that I'm not around for a couple months.

- Seeing cute pictures with funny little details. For example, this picture of us walking in a park.

Notice how our feet are pretty much exactly in the same position? Awwww!

- Meeting new people: you never know what to expect and sometimes, you're lucky and you get a pleasant surprise!

- I got a card from my friend in Alberta with pictures from her wedding. It made me very happy. So many wonderful memories.

It was such a fantastic night! She was one of the most beautiful
brides I have ever seen. Ever!

- Starbucks with Amanda! Yay! I missed her. And everyone from my program. So moving back to my city of friends was a good thing.

- Goofy moments during "Family Supper/Movie Night": We had one pair of kid's 3D glasses so we wanted to see if I could wear them under my normal glasses because they can't fit on top. This is what resulted:

I think they look super classy! Much  more so than the normal way
of wearing these fabulous 3D glasses.

- Meeting my best friend's girlfriend for the first time. This guy deserves all the best things in the world. And he has definitely found someone who is wonderful for him. So maybe he found the best person in the world. I am so happy for him!

- Went to see the Muppets Movie (with above friend and girlfriend). All my students told me how much they liked it. And they had good reason to. It was so cute! I loved the music in it. I miss the Muppets.

- Bought a new calendar. And it's a Happy Calendar! I am all about trying to see the positive in situations and be the happiest person that I can be. Sometimes it can be hard work, but it's definitely worth it.

I should probably read this book as well... Actually, I should probably
get a start on my copy of The Book of Awesome as well...

- I got to see my posters again. They are the most random pair of posters but I love them and they make me smile. So there!

Adorable elephants and Doctor Who! Who could ask for anything more?
Well, poster-wise, at least.

- I put in a new scent in my Berger Lamp and it smells delicious. I'm happy to have it back in my life.

My mom always used Ocean Breeze which I loved. But I felt like something
fruity when I bought mine so I tried Pear which smelled delicious.
This time I got Cranberry which is absolutely fantastic as well.

Those are just a few of the things that made me happy. Feel free to comment or link up to share what made you happy this week. Hope the next week is filled with wonderful, joyous things!

Such. A. Nerd.

Alright folks. I am going to demonstrate to you the extent of my nerdy-ness. As I may have previously mentioned, I am a huge (majorly huge) fan of Disney movies.

I would much rather read this...
than this!

And one of my favourite parts of many of these Disney movies is the music.

You may be thinking "Sure, sure. Every kid loves Disney music." But when I say that I am obsessed, I really mean obsessed. My cousin and I used to sing the songs all throughout recess in elementary school. I consistently get yelled at by my sisters: "Stop singing along! You're so annoying!" My friend and I were once singing "Just Around the River Bend" from Pocahontas so intently while canoeing that we didn't see a rock in our way and capsized.

So I believe that it can be assumed that I know a great majority of the lyrics to many of the songs from a large amount of Disney movies.

Well tonight, while reading Facebook comments, someone continued the song "Belle" from Beauty and the Beast in this way (and I quote): "Little town, made of little people....waking up.. to... Say......" As you might imagine, I freaked. I was so bothered by the mistake that I could not read it again. Also, I desperately wanted to correct it. But I held back and opted for writing a blog post about it instead. Good plan, right?

So did any of you catch the mistake? If not, here is the video. See if you catch it now...

Hope you all found it pretty easily. Here is a hint. It's in the third line of the song.

Well, I think that is enough of my nerdy side for now!

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P.S. Also, exciting news! Beauty and the Beast is coming out in 3D very, very soon! Yay!

And there is going to be a short based on Tangled afterwards. Could we ask for anything more?

Doctor Who Christmas Special...

Well, no major spoilers but a few quotes with some context of the episode. So maybe wait to read this after you have watched it (especially if you are a major fan).

Alrighty, so I know I am a little late but I wanted to share some of my favourite quotes from Doctor Who Christmas Special with you. You might not get these if you didn't watch the special but anyway.

The Doctor tends to point out the obvious a lot. The reason this is funny is because of the sarcasm he uses when he says it or the fact that he totally just missed the real meaning or context of the comment or situation.

For example, when a young girl asks them where they are after crossing into a new universe, this is what he answers:

See? Obviously they are in a forest, in a box, in a sitting room. That is how they got there! But where exactly is there?

And when, in a tight spot, someone asks them what they should do, his answer is:

This is pretty much exactly how things work out for him. All the time.

But then, the Doctor always turns things around and says or does something deep and meaningful. He is great at stating the simple truths of life that people seem to miss. For example, a mother has avoided telling her children that their father passed away. She yells much more at her children and in a moment alone with the doctor, she says: "I don't know why I yell at them." And the Doctor responds in this way:

Within the first five to ten minutes of the episode, he had me teary eyed. Isn't it completely true? It just makes so much sense and he says it so well.

These are just three of the dozens of great quotes from the Christmas Special.

Many people said that the episode was not good but I really did love it. It was such a sweet story. And so full of hope. I hope you have watched and enjoyed it as well. If not, do it. Now!

It's a New Year!

So a new year has arrived! Now is the time when most people start creating resolutions for themselves - usually some harsh, self-critical goal that is near impossible to achieve, especially with the means planned to achieve it. So usually, I don't do New Year Resolutions. Or so I say.

But then I realized that I kind of do have a New Year Resolution and it is mostly the same every year: balance. I can't say I've achieved it really but maybe this is what we should all reach for. The best goals for us might not be those that are extreme (e.g. never eat this specific food we love so we can lose fifty pounds in two months or never to buy another pair of shoes so that we don't spend money).

Here is what I hope to keep striving for throughout this year and all those to come. I want to create balance in my life. I want to try to spend a little less money and save a little more. I want to try to exercise a little more and sit idly a little bit less. I want to try to eat a little bit healthier and eat a little bit less junk food. I want to spend a little bit less time on work, and a little more time enjoying life, my family, and friends.

I hope all of you can find balance, happiness, and love throughout this new wonderful year. All the best!
